Care Tips

Zabuton ( Japanese Floor Cushion )

To keep your zabuton in the best hygienic condition, avoid humidity. Zabuton tends to retain moisture, which can lead to mold and mites. It may also cause the cushion to flatten more quickly. The most important care is to allow your zabuton to air out regularly.

The best care is to leave your zabuton out in direct sunlight for about 2 hours on each side when the sunlight is strong (around noon). Sun drying helps kill bacteria, remove odors, and restore fluffiness. Avoid direct sunlight for too long to prevent fading. Dry in the shade when possible.

Spot Cleaning (for light stains):
Mix cold water with a small amount of mild detergent (without bleach). Dampen a clean cloth or toothbrush with the mixture and gently clean the stain. Avoid oversaturating. Allow the spot to air dry or use a cool hairdryer.

Hand Wash (for deeper cleaning):
Fill a clean sink or basin with lukewarm water and add a small amount of mild detergent. Gently press the zabuton against the side of the sink or basin. Do not twist or wring the fabric. Rinse well with lukewarm water. Press between dry towels to remove excess water, and lay flat to dry thoroughly.

Do not machine wash, as it may cause the zabuton to become uneven.

Innner Cushion

This inner cushion is custom-made filled with kapok, a natural plant fiber from the kapok tree. It is lightweight, breathable, and eco-friendly, making it a sustainable material. Kapok is naturally resistant to rot, mold, and moisture, hypoallergenic, dust mite-resistant, and helps regulate temperature throughout the seasons.

The custom-made interior cushion in kapok is not machine washable. If stained, simply rub it with a lightly dampened brush and leave it to dry in the sun.

The inner cushion and cover are sold together.
Each piece is handmade, so slight variations in size and color may occur.
